ATTACK ON THE NEW YORK TIMES WEB SITE
A group calling itself HFG (or Hacking For Girlies) hacked its way into
the New York Times Web site for about nine hours on Sunday, replacing
the site's opening screen with images of nude women and a diatribe
against the Times for its past coverage of Kevin Mitnick, a convicted
felon now serving time for malicious hacking. George Washington
University professor Lance Hoffman says, "The material posted by the
hackers is offensive, childish, threatening and chilling. It's a good
example of why we have to bring accountability to the Internet." (New
York Times 14 Sep 98)
